SpeechBees

Speech Bees ("Speech Bees," "we," or "our") connects families with licensed pediatric speech-language pathologists ("SLPs"). This policy explains, in plain language, what information we collect through speechbees.com, why, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the choices and rights you have. We do not sell your information, and we do not use advertising trackers.

1. What this policy covers

This policy covers our website, our contact and consultation form, the SLP application and account area, and messages you send us through the site.

Once your child begins therapy, the health information created as part of that care (evaluations, session notes, progress reports, and billing records) is protected under our Notice of Privacy Practices, which explains your rights under HIPAA and Texas law. If the two documents ever differ for that information, the Notice of Privacy Practices controls.

This policy does not cover websites we link to. Their own privacy policies apply when you leave our site.

2. Information we collect

When you contact us.Our form asks for your name, email address, phone number, and a short message. You may also choose to give your child's age and your ZIP code. We ask for your consent before the form is sent.

Please keep health details out of the form. The form is for getting in touch, not for medical history. Please don't include diagnoses, evaluations, or other health details. We talk through your child's needs during your free consultation instead.

When an SLP applies or signs in.SLPs who create an account give us their name, email address, password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form by our account provider), phone number, license and certification details, education, the areas and ZIP codes they serve, their specialties, and an optional profile photo. Parts of an approved SLP's profile (such as name, photo, credentials, specialties, and service area) are shown publicly so families can find them. Phone numbers are never shown publicly.

Collected automatically. Like nearly every website, our hosting and security provider (Cloudflare) receives standard technical information when you visit: your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you request, and the date and time. Our spam check on the contact form (Cloudflare Turnstile) looks at technical signals from your browser to tell people from bots. We use this only to run, secure, and protect the site.

Cookies and browser storage. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics such as Google Analytics, and we do not track you across other websites. We use only what the site needs to work: keeping SLPs signed in, remembering small display choices, and the spam check described above.

3. How we use information

We use information only to:

  • Answer your message and schedule your free consultation.
  • Find a Speech Bee who serves your area and fits your child's needs.
  • Review SLP applications, verify licenses, and run SLP accounts and public profiles.
  • Keep the site working, secure, and free of spam and abuse.
  • Meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

We do not sell personal information, we do not "share" it for targeted advertising, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles. We only send marketing emails if you ask to receive them, and every one has an unsubscribe option.

4. Who we share information with

We share information only in these situations:

  • The Speech Bee who will work with your family, so they can contact you and prepare for your consultation.
  • Service providers who run parts of the site for us, under agreements that limit them to that purpose: Cloudflare (hosting, security, and spam protection), Resend (sends us email notices about new messages), Google (our email provider), and Supabase (stores contact form messages, SLP accounts, profiles, and photos).
  • When the law requires it, such as a valid court order, or when needed to protect someone's safety.
  • If Speech Bees is sold or merged, in which case this policy continues to apply to the information transferred, and we will tell you before any change to how it is used.
  • With your permission, for anything else.

5. Children's privacy

Our services are for children ages 2–12, but this website is meant for their parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. Information about a child comes only from the parent or guardian.

If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please tell us through our contact form and we will delete it.

6. Consumer health data privacy

Some states, including Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut, give extra protection to "consumer health data," which can include the simple fact that you are looking for speech therapy for your child. This section is our consumer health data privacy policy for residents of those states, and we apply the same protections to everyone.

  • What we collect:that you contacted us about speech therapy, your child's age, the service you asked about, and anything you choose to write in your message.
  • Where it comes from: directly from you, through our contact form or during your consultation.
  • Why we collect it: only to respond to you and arrange the services you asked for.
  • Who we share it with: the Speech Bee who will work with your family, and the service providers listed above that deliver and store our messages. We do not share it with anyone else without your consent, and we never sell it.
  • Your rights:you can ask to see this data, ask for a list of everyone we shared it with, withdraw your consent, and ask us to delete it, using the steps in "Your privacy rights" below. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

7. How long we keep information

We keep contact form messages for up to 12 months after our last conversation, unless your child starts therapy with us. We keep SLP application and account information while the account is active and for up to 3 years after it closes, unless the law requires longer. Records of therapy are kept as state law requires for clinical records, as explained in our Notice of Privacy Practices. Our hosting provider's technical logs are kept only briefly for security.

You can ask us to delete your information sooner at any time.

8. Your privacy rights

Wherever you live, you can ask us to: (a) tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy, (b) correct it, (c) delete it, and (d) stop any marketing messages. Residents of Texas, California, and other states with privacy laws also have the right to opt out of the sale of personal data, targeted advertising, and profiling. We don't do any of those, so there is nothing to opt out of, but we honor Global Privacy Control signals and opt-out requests anyway.

To make a request, send it through our contact formand choose "Ask a question." We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on it, and we will respond within 45 days. You can use an authorized agent to make a request for you. If we say no, you can appeal by replying to our answer, and we will respond to the appeal within 60 days. If you are not satisfied with the appeal, you can contact your state attorney general.

We will never charge you more or treat you differently for using these rights.

9. How we protect information

The whole site uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). Our account and database provider encrypts stored data, and its access rules limit each SLP to their own account. Contact form messages are kept in a private admin area that only signed-in Speech Bees administrators can open. Only the people who need information to help your family can see it. No website can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your information, we will notify you as the law requires.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we will ask for your consent where the law requires it, and we will tell SLPs with active accounts by email.

11. Contact us
