For Dallas families
What makes speech therapy in Dallas different.
DFW is huge. Your drive shouldn’t be.
DFW is one of the most spread-out metros in the country. A clinic visit across town can mean more time in the car than in therapy.
That math doesn’t work for a four-year-old who’s done the moment the car seat clicks. So the drive is ours, not yours.
We match Speech Bees by the areas they can realistically cover. Drop in your ZIP and we’ll find someone who can actually get to your door.
Bilingual homes are welcome here
Many Dallas families speak Spanish, Vietnamese, or another language at home. A child tested only in English can look “behind” when they’re actually learning two languages well.
We work to match bilingual families with a Speech Bee who fits. If that isn’t possible in your area, we’ll tell you up front. Your child should never have to give up their home language to speak clearly.
School speech and private speech, side by side
If your child qualifies for services in Dallas ISD, Highland Park ISD, or Richardson ISD, take them. School SLPs work hard, and it’s free.
School sessions are usually small groups with goals tied to the classroom.
A Speech Bee is one-on-one in your home, with goals you help pick, like ordering at a restaurant or playing with a sibling. Many families do both.
Built around busy Dallas schedules
Dallas kids stay busy with soccer, volleyball, church, and long, hot summers spent mostly indoors.
Your Speech Bee works around real life. If you’re aiming for a goal before school starts in August, we plan backward from that date.
Rooted in Texas
Our founder was raised in Texas and went to UT Dallas, right here in the metro.
Before Speech Bees, that meant more than 100 hours volunteering with students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. That’s where the mission began: give families the tools they need to communicate better.

Honest comparison
How we compare to your other options
DFW has plenty of good choices for kids’ speech therapy. Here’s an honest look at where Speech Bees fits.
If your child qualifies, take it
School-based services
Free, during the school day, and run by qualified SLPs. Sessions are usually small groups with goals tied to classroom learning. It pairs well with private therapy.
If you don’t mind the drive
Clinic-based therapy
DFW has solid pediatric clinics. The trade-offs are drive time, waiting rooms, and a room full of toys your child has never seen. Some kids thrive there, many don’t.
If screen-only works for your child
National telehealth apps
Often quick to start, with licensed SLPs. Matching is usually automated and every session is on a screen. We offer online therapy only for stuttering, because we believe the rest works best hands-on.
If you want an expert at home
Speech Bees
A hand-picked, licensed SLP in your living room, using your child’s own toys and routines. Parents are welcome to join, and every family starts with a free 15-minute consultation.
The financial side
Insurance and costs, in plain talk
Speech therapy is a real investment. Here’s how paying for it works before you commit to anything.
Superbills for insurance
We don’t bill insurance directly yet. You’ll get a superbill to submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies, so check your plan’s speech therapy benefits.
Pay per visit
No contracts and no subscriptions. Pricing is shared on your free 15-minute consultation, so you know the cost up front.
HSA and FSA
Speech therapy from a licensed SLP is often an eligible expense for HSA and FSA accounts. Your plan administrator can confirm.
If cost is a barrier, ask
We can talk through a schedule that fits your budget, like less frequent visits paired with more parent practice at home.

Frequently asked
Dallas parents often ask
How do we get started with a Speech Bee in Dallas?
Book a free 15-minute consultation. Tell us what you’re noticing, ask anything you like, and we’ll explain how in-home therapy would work for your child. There’s no cost and no commitment.
Do you go beyond Dallas to Plano, Frisco, or Irving?
Yes. Many of our DFW Speech Bees also cover nearby cities like Highland Park, University Park, Plano, Frisco, Irving, Garland, Richardson, and Allen. Coverage depends on each SLP’s area, so pop in your ZIP to see who can come to you.
Do you offer online speech therapy in Dallas?
Only for stuttering. Stuttering therapy is the one service we offer online. Articulation, language, and apraxia therapy are in-home only, because we believe speech therapy works best hands-on, and we won’t trade that quality for convenience.
Who are the Speech Bees?
Every Speech Bee is a licensed, ASHA-certified, master’s-trained, state-licensed speech-language pathologist with pediatric experience. We hand-pick each one, and that includes seeing how they are with kids.
Can I be part of my child’s sessions?
Yes, and we encourage it. We offer parent-assisted sessions where your Speech Bee shows you the same practices SLPs use, so you can keep them going between visits. Every family also gets a free parents guide at the first session.
How quickly can we start?
Once you’re matched with a local Speech Bee, the next step is scheduling an evaluation at home. Timing depends on your SLP’s openings, and we’ll give you a straight answer on the consultation call.
Can my child get speech therapy at their Dallas ISD school instead?
Many kids qualify for school-based services in Dallas ISD, Highland Park ISD, or Richardson ISD, and if yours does, take it. School sessions are usually small groups with classroom-focused goals. A Speech Bee adds one-on-one time at home with goals your family helps choose.
Should we still see a private SLP if school already provides speech?
Often, yes, especially if progress at school feels slow or your child needs goals an IEP can’t cover, like home routines or sibling play. School and private therapy complement each other well. If school alone is enough, we’ll tell you.
How long until my child sees progress?
It depends on the goal and the child. Some sounds come quickly, while apraxia and complex language goals take longer, with steady gains along the way. Your Speech Bee tracks progress against the goals you set together and shares it with you in plain English.
Do you work with autistic kids and kids with developmental differences?
Yes, and matching matters here. We look for a Speech Bee whose experience fits your child’s needs. If we don’t have the right fit in your area, we’ll say so honestly rather than send the wrong person.
Do we need a pediatrician’s referral?
No. You can reach out directly. If your pediatrician has referred you, mention it on the consultation call, since that context helps your Speech Bee walk in already understanding what’s been observed.
Does Speech Bees take insurance?
We don’t bill insurance directly yet. We provide a superbill you can submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. Coverage varies by plan, so check with your insurer about speech therapy benefits.
What’s the difference between speech therapy and ABA?
Speech therapy is delivered by a licensed speech-language pathologist and focuses on communication: speech sounds, language, and fluency. ABA is a separate behavior therapy delivered by behavior analysts. They can work alongside each other, but Speech Bees provides speech therapy only.
Can siblings share a session?
Sometimes. It depends on ages, goals, and how well two kids share one SLP’s attention. Siblings working on different goals usually need separate sessions. We’ll figure out what makes sense after getting to know each child.
